My quirky love for Obama’s tax plan

So I read in The New York Times that Obama “could support taxing some employee health benefits … [which he] denounced in the presidential campaign as ‘the largest middle-class tax increase in history'”. I didn’t really have a clue about this. So I looked it over and asked myself, “under what circumstances should I be taxed on something?”

Then it hit me. I barely know what a tax is. I couldn’t even begin to answer the question I posed to myself. I know some arguments about why we tax in the astract, but none for when or how in the real world.

I love moments like these. They’re further catalysts for that neverending, yet joyful, pursuit of understanding.
